Jahvon Quinerly Decommits from Arizona

This is major news from a couple of different standpoints. Obviously, first and foremost Jahvon Quinerly is a five-star point guard in a class where there is limited point guard. He’s a top-20 player in the class and a ridiculously talented player.

Second, Jahvon Quinerly and Arizona are both part of this FBI probe. Quinerly is believed to be ‘player-5′ in the documents provided by the FBI. The documents allege that former Arizona assistant coach Book Richardson paid player-5 a $15,000 bribe to someone who, “verbally committed to attending” (Arizona) “on or about August 9, 2017.” Quinerly committed on August 8.

Finally, Quinerly and his family recently hired a lawyer. That lawyer is Alan Milstein, who also represented Maurice Clarett back in 2004 in his case against the NFL.

Look, this isn’t the first nor the last player that will decommit due to the FBI probe, but this is the first recruit to decommit who was alleged to be in these documents. We all know about Brian Bowen, but he was already on campus.

As for what’s next? I have no idea. I have no idea if Quinerly will be cleared by the NCAA when it comes time or if he’ll play overseas. I don’t know if sanctions will come down on Arizona and what they will be. To be frank, no one does. People don’t have sources in the FBI, which is where the process is right now. The NCAA can’t properly investigate anything until the FBI portion is done, which it isn’t. All I know is this fallout is continuing and it’s just getting started at both Arizona and elsewhere.
